Community Meals:

Lunch with us qtr pageLast season the Resource Center helped launch a joint effort to bring people in the community together for food and socializing.

This season we are trying a new venture starting in February 2013:  We will be holding bi-monthly LUNCHES to coincide with the 2 monthly Food Program delivery dates.  Lunch will be served at the Resource Center on the first and third Thursday of the  month from 11:00 to 12:30 pm.

Lunch With Us is a joint effort sponsored by the  Mtn. Ranch Community Club, Lutheran Church, Community Church and Resource Center.

  Evolving Community Garden:

We are slowly developing a community garden.  Last (2012) season we had a small vegetable garden out front. In spite of many pests and predators, enough tomatoes were produced to hold a canning workshop and provide the center with jars of canned tomatoes, sauce, juice and salsa for the winter.  This year we’ve got more tomatoes and squash plannned to supplement Lunch with Us, plus Kristine commandeered the garden in front of our other building to continue it’s development as an herb and medicinal plant area.  Later on, when funding allows, we plan to tear up the entire lawn and put in raised boxes, a greenhouse, a washing shed, and plans for weekly “home-grown” produce to augment the bi-monthly food distribution program.

Lending Library:

The Resource Center offers a free lending library. We also will take book donations. Come in, browse, see what’s new as the offering constantly changes.  Meet our volunteer librarian Brian!!  Thanks to him the books are now in a useful order.

Computer Lab:

We just got 9 refurbished computers running Windows XP and are developing a computer lab. Currently a few more pieces are needed to make it run smoothly, contact us if you would like to donate time/energy/dollars to this project.
